In 2000 the FVAS had their first exchange program with an exhibition and dance, in Port of Spain, Trinidad. A small catalogue was published.
This exchange program was followed by “Without Boundaries” an exchange program with “Eject”. Eject was an exchange program, created by Ellen Ligteringen. In Eject, Ellen Ligteringen brought together artists from Suriname, the Netherlands, Columbia, Germany and The Czech Republic. A manuscript about this exchange program was published in 2002.
In 2001 the FVAS co-ordinated the participation of Suriname in the traveling exhibition "Between Lines", organized by Centro Cultural Cariforo. In 2002 the FVAS co-ordinated the hosting of this exhibition in Paramaribo. In 2006 the FVAS organized a Seminar in co-operation with the Director of the ‘Rijksacademie’ (Amsterdam), Prof. Janwillem Schrofer. Prof. Janwillem Schrofer was guest speaker and presented the Artist-in-Residence Program of the Rijksacademie and International Platforms initiated by the Artists of the Rijksacademie. He also presented a concept for developing Visual Art en structuring the Art logistics in Suriname. Also in 2006 the FVAS organized the Workshop ‘Vrije Grafische Technieken’ (Workshop in Graphic Art), in co-operation with the ‘Amsterdams Grafisch Atelier’ (Studio for Graphic Art in Amsterdam). In 2007, the exchange program Paramaribo – Rotterdam, ArtRoPa, was launched. George Struikelblok was the first Artist-in-Residence at Duende, Rotterdam in 2007. Kurt Nahar and Steve Ammersingh were the next Artists-in-Residence at Duende, Rotterdam, in 2008, followed by Ravi Rajcoomar and Roddney Tjon Poen Gie in 2009
